Top 5 Underrated Books Read in 2022

In the past couple of years I have been putting together a Top 5 post for underrated books  as an end of year wrap up. (Check out the Top 5 Underrated Books Published in 2020.) It better showcases the books I adored! I read tons and usually do the ones published in the year, but I had a ton that appeared on my other lists as well (see bottom of post) I love discovering hidden gems and trying to talk about them as much as possible to get others to give them a try! Therefore here is my Top 5 Underrated Books Read in 2022!

In no particular order….

Top 5 Underrated Books Read in 2022

Horseman by Christina Henry

Christina Henry has quickly become  an auto buy author for me. This retelling of Sleepy Hollow was so surprising  and makes for such a great Halloween read. Creatures in the woods, headless horseman and a town that believes it all! It also has trans rep! The ending was perfect!

Miss Meteor by TEHLOR KAY MEJIA

How did I not read this book sooner. I was just such a sweet story while also dealing with some tough stuff. It just had me smiling so much! There was so much great rep from trans& pan to latina! It was a story about being true to yourself and finding your place in the world. The family aspect was so perfect as well! It definitely gave some Roswell vibes 🙂

These Fleeting Shadows by Kate Alice Marshall

Marshall definitely delivered on the gothic horror vibes! This book for sure gave me the pine chills and had some super creepy elements that I swear appeared in some of my nightmares. There was a sapphic romance that came as a surprise to me, but I thought was a great addition! At times this book reminded me of the movie Rose Red with its huge house and eerie vibes. I also never saw the ending coming.

Curse of Deception by CR Robertson

The 3rd book in a steamy, unique paranormal romance series that so does not get the attention it deserves! This has to be one of my favorite worlds and love all the different paranormals! Valek and Magenta  were such a fun couple to learn more about and see their relationship grow! Each had their own unique personalities and just were such a perfect fit together. The overall series plot was woven through this story and we continue to see action as well as twists and turns in the fight against Ophelia.

Ember Of Night Series by Molly E. Lee

I had to pick this whole series because I just love it so much and don’t understand how everyone isn’t losing it over this series! The last book also made it in my Top 5 2022 Releases but it just needs all the love! This series is an upper level YA paranormal series that has some romance, hard topics (abusive parent), a super unique setting, angels/demons, action and such great relationships (especially a sister relationship) or and also amazing BANTER!
